Nigerian Troops Thwarts Terrorist Invasion, Rescues Female Students

Troops of the Nigerian Army have thwarted a planned terrorist attack on a military base in Borno State and safely evacuated 21 female students after receiving intelligence about an imminent assault.
Operational reports obtained on Monday also disclosed that soldiers arrested a suspected kidnapper believed to be a member of a cross-border criminal network operating between Nigeria and Cameroon.
According to the report, personnel of the 3 Battalion at the Forward Operating Base in Logomani detected suspected fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) attempting to encircle the base.
The insurgents' movement was identified through the base's Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) surveillance system, allowing troops to react swiftly. The soldiers engaged the terrorists in a firefight, forcing them to retreat before they could carry out the planned attack on the military position.
The military said the prompt response prevented what could have been a major assault, while security operations in the area continue.
