Corps Members Urged to Recreate Their Future Through Skill Acquisition

The 2026 Batch B Stream II Corps Members deployed to Rivers State have been urged to acquire relevant skills that will enable them to recreate the future they desire for themselves.

The State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Rivers State, Mr. Moses Oleghe, gave the charge on Tuesday at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Nonwa-Gbam, Tai, during the flag-off of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) in-camp programme for the Corps Members.

Speaking at the event, Oleghe described skill acquisition as the “new normal” for the NYSC Scheme, stressing that Corps Members must embrace it wholeheartedly to build gainful and sustainable livelihoods after their service year.

He encouraged the Corps Members to take ownership of their SAED journey and become an integral part of the programme, urging them to use the opportunity to rewrite their life stories and shape a more productive future.

The State Coordinator also assured the Corps Members of the guidance and support of NYSC staff, trainers and other critical institutions working in collaboration with the Scheme to strengthen the skill acquisition and entrepreneurship development programme.

In her welcome address, the Assistant Director, SAED, Mrs. Carol Chukwu, urged the Corps Members to take the in-camp training seriously and use the opportunity to make a positive difference in their lives.

Chukwu said highly competent trainers with proven integrity, credibility and experience had been assembled to equip the Corps Members with valuable skills at little or no cost to them.

She appreciated the State Coordinator and other camp officials for their commendable support and cooperation with the SAED committee, expressing confidence that the training would have a positive impact on the Corps Members.
