Bishop David Oyedepo, founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, has described Deeper Christian Life Ministry General Superintendent, Pastor William Kumuyi, as a “sage,” praising his decades of global evangelism and enduring impact.

Oyedepo made the remarks on Saturday at the August edition of the Global Crusade with Kumuyi (GCK) in Ota, Ogun State, where thousands gathered for the programme themed “Total Transformation Through Christ.”

Speaking for about 20 minutes, Oyedepo said his presence at the crusade was a demonstration of honour for Kumuyi and his contribution to Christian ministry.

“This man is a sage. Today, I am amazed at the strength, the unction and the impact of this ministry all through these years,” Oyedepo declared.

He prayed that Kumuyi’s grace and influence would continue to increase.

“May this grace continue to multiply, in the name of Jesus.”

‘A Voice That Has Affected Many Globally’

Oyedepo recalled encountering Kumuyi’s ministry during its early years, including reading his evangelistic tract, Hell Is Real, during the revival era of the 1970s.

He described the Deeper Life leader as a voice whose ministry had influenced millions beyond Nigeria.

The Living Faith founder also ministered on “How Shall We Escape, If We Neglect So Great a Salvation?”, challenging worshippers to view salvation as a personal transformation rather than a religious concept.

“Salvation is not an ideology; it is an experience. May everyone gathered here tonight be set to experience the salvation of Christ,” he said.

Oyedepo further shared his personal testimony, recalling his conversion on February 19, 1969, at the age of 15. He said love, joy and peace became evidence of the transformation he experienced after encountering Christ.

GCK Draws Thousands, Expands Beyond Nigeria

The five-day GCK programme, which began on August 28 and concludes today, August 30, has attracted participants from Ado-Odo/Ota, Yewa South, Yewa North, Ipokia and Imeko-Afon local government areas.

The organisers said the crusade is open to everyone, regardless of denomination, social status or religious background.

The programme has also extended beyond preaching, with free medical and surgical outreaches provided to members of the public.

A maternal and child health outreach was held on August 23 at Landmark Executive Multipurpose Hall in Ota, while additional medical outreaches followed on August 24 and 25. Beneficiaries received free consultations, diagnosis, treatment and medication.

‘Over 50 Million Reached’

The GCK initiative, launched five years ago, has expanded from Nigeria to several countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, the Americas and Australia.

Kumuyi has said the evangelistic initiative has reached more than 50 million people and recorded over 900,000 conversions. The reported milestone earned the ministry recognition in the World Book of Records’ Excellence E1 category.

The high point of Saturday’s gathering came when Oyedepo and Kumuyi warmly embraced on the crusade ground, drawing loud applause from worshippers.

The moment was widely seen as a powerful display of unity between two of Nigeria’s most prominent Christian leaders.

The crusade is scheduled to close on Sunday, August 30, with a final service focusing on salvation, healing and deliverance.
