The Rivers State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mr. Moses Oleghe, has urged Corps Members to take the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme seriously, saying it can shape their future and prepare them for economic independence.
Oleghe gave the advice during the official opening and flag-off of SAED activities for the 2026 Batch C Stream I Orientation Course for Corps Members deployed to Rivers State.
He urged the Corps Members to maximise both the in-camp and post-camp training opportunities, stressing that the skills acquired could provide a strong foundation for sustainable livelihoods beyond the service year.
The State Coordinator reminded them that “what they do with SAED can determine how happy or sad” their future would be.
He also cautioned the Corps Members against being distracted by friends and colleagues, noting that the “future belongs to those who prepare for it.”
Earlier, the newly appointed SAED Officer, NYSC Rivers State, Mrs. Ngozi Njoku-Nwogu, urged the Corps Members to leverage the experience and expertise of the master trainers to acquire practical skills that would promote self-sustenance and economic independence.
She encouraged them to approach the training with commitment and determination, describing the SAED programme as an opportunity to prepare for life after the service year.
