NCDMB, OMAROG Open New Career Pathways for 50 Lagos Youths

Fifty young Nigerians in Lagos State have been equipped with specialised technical skills in Fire Alarm and Access Control Technology following a five-day intensive training programme organised by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) in partnership with OMAROG Nigeria Limited.
The programme, which ran from August 3 to August 7, 2026, was designed to provide participants with practical, industry-relevant skills capable of improving their employment prospects and creating pathways to entrepreneurship.
Through hands-on sessions facilitated by OMAROG Nigeria Limited, the beneficiaries received practical training in the installation, programming, troubleshooting and maintenance of modern fire alarm systems and electronic access control solutions.
The training also exposed participants to industry standards, workplace safety requirements and job-readiness practices, giving them a broader understanding of what is required to operate effectively in professional technical environments.
For many of the beneficiaries, the programme represents more than just technical training. It provides an opportunity to acquire specialised skills that can be applied across several sectors, including construction, oil and gas, real estate, facility management and building services.
Participants expressed appreciation to NCDMB and OMAROG Nigeria Limited for investing in their development, describing the training as an opportunity to acquire practical skills that can help them compete more effectively in the labour market.
Some beneficiaries also said the knowledge gained could serve as a foundation for establishing their own technical services businesses and creating employment opportunities for others.
The initiative highlights the role of strategic collaboration between public institutions and private-sector organisations in developing Nigeria's technical workforce and preparing young people for emerging opportunities in the country's economy.
With the growing adoption of modern fire detection, safety and electronic security systems in residential, commercial and industrial facilities, the newly trained beneficiaries are expected to leverage their skills to pursue opportunities in a range of technical and professional fields.
