English FA ready to drop its support for FIFA President

The English Football Association is set to withdraw its support for FIFA president Gianni Infantino by formally notifying him in writing. The decision follows the controversy surrounding his abandoned proposal to sell minority stakes in FIFA competitions to private investors.
The move comes as UEFA considers legal action over the proposal, while the Football Association of Wales has already publicly withdrawn its backing for Infantino's bid for a fourth and final term as FIFA president.
Infantino is expected to seek re-election next March and will require the support of at least 106 of FIFA's 211 member associations to remain in office. Sources told BBC Sport that the Scottish Football Association also shares UEFA's concerns about his leadership.
Criticism of Infantino had already been voiced by UEFA and Concacaf, both of which opposed FIFA's plan to create a commercial subsidiary to manage its major tournaments, including the FIFA World Cup. Under the proposal, outside investors would have been allowed to acquire minority, non-controlling stakes in the new entity, known as FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE).
According to The Telegraph, UEFA has informed Infantino that it is actively considering legal action, arbitration, and regulatory complaints in relation to the proposal. The governing body has also requested that FIFA preserve all relevant documents and electronically stored information connected to the plan to ensure no evidence is lost through routine deletion or document destruction.
